Use our C360 Free Machining Brass Machining Guide

Many years ago a system was developed to rate the relative ease or difficulty of machining the various copper alloys.  These values became known as “machinability ratings”. This value is not an exact figure, but it gives you a general idea of how easily or difficult the metal can be worked with a cutting tool.

C36000 Free Machining Brass sets the standard for copper alloy machinability.  With a rating of 100%, on a scale where 100% is the most easily machined, C360 Brass can take full advantage of your machines capabilities.

As any machinist knows, the cutting process is effected by things like cutting speed, the material and geometry of the tool, the size of the cut, and the overall rigidity of the machine, tools and holding device. So, machinability can generally be described as the ease with which a material can be machined. Use this “rating” as a starting point for understanding how your process will perform. The chart includes the speeds and feeds to use with C360 brass as well as tips on proper coolant and other factors.
